Minimally Invasive Dentistry
The future of all medicine is centered around the concept of minimal invasion. Today, thanks to the persistent labour of a few extremely dedicated professionals, the dream of bringing true minimally invasive dentistry to Costa Rica is finally becoming a dream come true.
The use of air abrasion in dentistry has a very long established and time tested history as it was first introduced in dentistry over 100 years ago! Today, whenever and wherever possible the use of this truly non invasive technology has more of a need than ever.
Besides being a major influential factor in the restoration process, the dynamics of using this newly reinvented technology are just beginning to gain light amongst the biological dental community worldwide.
Air abrasion technology is providing patients with the best possible odds of having the best possible dentistry available by ensuring that each new restauration lasts longer and holds together better and stronger than ever!
Hydro Air Abrasion
Minimally Invasive Treatment Minimizes the loss of sound healthy tooth structure resulting in smaller, more conservative cavity preparations.
No Chipping, Cracks or Micro-Fractures Unlike the traditional dental drill, hydro air abrasion does not create micro-fractures, micro-cracks or micro-crazes in the enamel and dentin, thus preventing future larger cavities.
Reduces Restoration Failure Tooth Preparations with hydro air abrasion improves the adhesion characteristics and bond strengths of Enamel and dentin to composite bonding cements resulting in longer lasting restorations.
Did You Know?
Hydro Air Abrasion requires no anesthesia needle injections, allowing for the treatment of all four quadrants of the mouth during a single visit
Non Traumatic Without Anesthesia…
No Anestesia. Eliminates the need for most needle injections for patients with small aestetic restaurations of cavitated lesions.
Less Discomfort during Preparation. Barnishes, closes and seals off the dentinal tubules sensation to intra operative pain as the decay is being removed.
No Thermal Heat Build-up. Dental drilling can increase the temperature of enamel and dentin by 300 to 400 degrees Celsius causing enamel cracking. Hydro Air Abrasion’s temperature changes are minimal 3 degrees Celcius, so the risk of cracking is decreased.
Did You Know?
Hydro Air Abrasion is a less invasive procedure that preserves more natural tooth structure than conventional instrumentation.
Less Invasive Better Restorations…
Better Bonding. Cavities prepared with Hydro Air Abrasion demonstrate roughened and rounded contours that improve the retention of the bonding materials and decrease the risk of restoration fracture.
Inproved Surface Area. Far better prepared to receive and retain bonded restorations due to the enhanced macroscopic surface pattern’s topography.
Enhanced Adhesive Strength. Increases the number, length, thickness and diameter of the macro and micro resin tag formations that penetrate into enamel and dentin allowing a better micromechanical bond.
